Draw a Chapter participant and pray with us.

From late July to early August, provincials, vice-provincials, and other Dominicans from around the world will gather at the Holy Trinity convent in Kraków to participate in the General Chapter — the most important assembly of the Order of Preachers. It is here, under the leadership of the Master of the Order, Br. Gerard Timoner OP, that the friars will collectively discern what serves the good of the entire Dominican community. They will be accompanied by collaborators of the Master General from the General Curia, former Masters General, translators, and friars serving in support roles.

The Chapter begins with a solemn Mass of the Holy Spirit on July 19th. The deliberations will be very intensive. The friars will work in commissions and plenary sessions, considering hundreds of proposals submitted from around the world — from individual friars, convents, and provinces. Each of these voices expresses a desire to build unity, faithfulness to the charisma of St. Dominic, and an even deeper listening to what the Spirit is saying to the Church today. The Chapter will conclude on August 8th — on this day, the present novice friars will make their first profession.

During the meetings held throughout the Chapter, diverse perspectives—cultural, linguistic, and spiritual—from friars in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Australia, and Europe will converge. This makes prayer all the more necessary, to open the hearts of the capitulars to the Holy Spirit and help them discover God’s will for the Order in these times. We desire that every decision, every word, and every entry in the Acts of the Chapter be born from prayer, from listening to the Word, and from deep concern for the Church and the world.

Therefore, we warmly encourage you to spiritually accompany the Chapter:
  • pray for the friars participating in the Chapter, that they may be instruments of God’s peace and light,
  • offer a fast or the difficulty of daily duties for their intention,
  • ask for the light of the Holy Spirit for all who will discern and make decisions.

May common prayer ensure that the fruits of the Chapter are a blessing for the entire Order and the Church.

To make this prayer more concrete, the initiative we’ve prepared can help.

We invite you to fill out the form below to draw a specific Chapter participant to pray for.
